We began with a deep passion for the deen and a commitment to drawing our youth closer to mosque. Active involvement in a local youth initiative created a vibrant, safe space for young people to connect. Through this foundational work, we inspired and empowered our community, which ultimately ignited the spark for Al-Hijaab Boutique. We wanted to motivate young girls to wear the hijab with true haya (modesty) while proving that they could simultaneously embrace contemporary fashion. At the time, finding elegant, modest clothing locally within Gqeberha presented a significant challenge. The limited options available in the market were excessively expensive for the quality offered. Furthermore, the local retail landscape lacked variety, resulting in a repetitive style that failed to match current global fashion trends.

In 2018, Al-Hijaab Boutique was established to transform this reality. We started on a small scale, offering basic headscarves and scarf pins. In those early days, we were incredibly humbled by the response from our community. Many young girls shared that they had long desired to wear the hijab but simply could not afford the high cost of traditional Islamic attire. Helping them fulfil their deeni goals brought immense joy to our hearts. We soon realised that we could source superior quality hijabs and unique designs at an affordable price while ensuring elegant modest wear became accessible to everyone rather than just a select few.

Shukr Alhamdulillah, through the incredible loyalty and support of both our local community and our valued customers in regions such as Cape Town, Johannesburg and Overpoort, we quickly expanded our collection to include premium shawls, handbags, mussalahs, footwear and essential hijab accessories.
